GENEOLOGY OF KINGS

This geneology of kings is broken into two sections. The first tree begins with King Vijaya's great great grandfather (6th century BC) and the beginnings of the Mahasammata line of Kings. It might be of interest to the reader to find out that there existed a close relationship between the family of the the Lord Buddha and that of the early Sinhala kingship. This first tree ends with the reign of King Yasalalaka Tissa (52 AD). The second tree is from the reign of King Subharaja (60 AD) to that of King Mahasena (277 AD). This geneology was compiled by John Still and first published in the Index to the Mahavamsa in 1907.
